6 killed in truck-microbus collision in Natore

Six people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in a horrific road accident on the Banpara-Hatikumrul highway in Baraigram, Natore. The tragic accident occurred at around 10 am on Wednesday (July 23) in the Tarmuj Pump area of the upazila.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, a microbus carrying passengers from Rajshahi was heading towards Dhaka. The microbus overturned in a head-on collision with a truck coming from the opposite direction. Five passengers died on the spot. Two of the injured were taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where another died.

The identity of one of the deceased has been confirmed. He is Rubel Hossain, son of Nabi Suddin of Gangni upazila of Meherpur district, who was the driver of the microbus. Police are working to identify the rest.

Immediately after the incident, a traffic jam of about 10 kilometers was created on the highway. Ismail Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banpara Highway Police Station, said, “The Highway Police is working to quickly remove the bodies and vehicles from the scene and normalize traffic.”

Hospital sources said the condition of the injured is critical. Doctors are keeping them under close observation.
