Porcupine rescued in Panchagarh is now in Tentulia Eco Park

A rare species of porcupine that fell into a pond while fleeing from locals has been rescued in Panchagarh. Forest department members safely rescued the animal from Kittiniapara village in Chaklahat union of Panchagarh Sadar upazila on Wednesday (December 31) afternoon.
The porcupine is about one and a half feet long and weighs approximately 8 kg. It has been kept in Tentulia Eco Park for safety.
Locals said that in the morning, the porcupine was crossing a field and heading towards a betel nut garden. When some people tried to catch it, the animal fell into a nearby pond. Later, it was caught from the pond using a bamboo cage and the forest department was informed.
Panchagarh Sadar Forest Department BIT officer Zainul Abedin said, "After receiving the news, we quickly went to the spot and rescued the porcupine. Initially, it was kept in Tentulia Eco Park for safety reasons. Later, necessary measures will be taken as per the decision of higher authorities."
