Along with increasing the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a big increase in the price of autogas at the consumer level has also been announced. The price of autogas per liter for the month of April has been increased by 17 taka 94 paisa.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission fixed this new price on Thursday (April 2). The organization said that the new price will be effective from 6 pm today.
According to the new decision, the price of autogas including VAT at the consumer level has been fixed at 79 taka 77 paisa per liter. Earlier, during the last price adjustment on March 2, the price of autogas per liter was reduced by 3 paisa to 61 taka 83 paisa.
Meanwhile, along with autogas, the price of LPG has also increased significantly. The price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder has been increased by Tk 387 from Tk 1,341 to Tk 1,728.
The concerned people say that this adjustment has been made in the domestic market due to the impact of the increase in fuel prices in the international market. There is a possibility that this will increase the overall cost including transportation costs, which may create additional pressure on the common man.
