A scene unfolded in the courtyard of the Kotwali police station in Jessore this afternoon, which in the eyes of many has rivaled the plot of a movie. The incident was so dramatic that passers-by were saying in surprise—“Is this a police station or a fairground?”
A woman named Seema Adhikari was at the center. On one side was her experienced husband of 36 years of marriage, Vikas Adhikari, and on the other side was her new lover, Palash Kundu. A fight began surrounding Seema Devi. Vikas Adhikari said in a firm voice, “I will take my wife back home by any means.” On the other hand, Palash Kundu countered, “No, she wants to be with me. No one will force her.”
Meanwhile, Seema Devi, standing in the middle of these demands from both sides, clarified her position. She declared, “I am not the sweeper of anyone’s family. I will be with whoever I want. Only I have the right to decide about my life.” His words spread more buzz, commotion and excitement around.
Within a short time, fights, pushing and screaming began. The entire police station premises instantly turned into a live shooting spot for a popular television serial. Many were laughing and saying, “We need to change the song after seeing this scene—‘A person deserves two husbands!’” While some were recording videos on their mobile phones, commenting, “Is this drama from Jessore going to be remade in Kolkata!”
Finally, the police came forward to control the situation. To avoid chaos, the police took all three—Vikas Adhikari, Palash Kundu and Seema Adhikari—into custody. Now everyone’s curiosity was only one—whom will Seema Devi choose in the last scene of this drama? Her husband, her lover, or will there be a third surprise?
