Father hacks son to death in land dispute

Nizamul Haque Khan (40) and his son Redwan ul Haque Khan (13) have been accused of hacking and seriously injuring them in Shariatpur for obstructing a school teacher from occupying his ancestral property. The incident took place yesterday morning in Paschim Sarenga village of Saulpara union of Palang upazila. The injured were later rescued and admitted to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, but they were also beaten with the intention of killing them there. They were admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital for treatment in the early hours of October 19 to save their lives. In this incident, the victim's wife Suborna Akhter filed a written complaint with Shariatpur Sadar Police Station, mentioning the names of 10 people in the incident, along with the names of two to three unidentified people.
The accused are: Matin Khan (48), son of deceased A. Kader Khan of Paschim Sarenga village, Humayun Kabir Khan (55), son of A. Matin Khan, Mohibullah Khan Sharif (18), son of deceased Dalil Uddin Molla, Adv. Mohibullah Shahin (37), Adv. Qutub Uddin Molla (32),
Tariqul Azad (35), son of Abdul Latif, Ariful Rahman (27), son of Humayun Kabir Khan, Farzana Afrin Happy (40), wife of Abdul Matin Khan, Fazlul Haque Molla (55) son of Wajuddin Molla.
According to the case and the victim's family, yesterday morning, Matin Khan and his people came to Nizamul Haque Khan's ancestral property with the intention of forcibly putting up a cement pole and a tin fence. At that time, the victim's teacher had an argument with them at one point. Later, a man named Fazlul Haque ordered his teacher to be beaten up. Later, when they were beating him indiscriminately with more weapons in their hands, his son came to save him and severely injured him by slashing him. At one point, the locals ran after hearing their cries and they fled. Later, the locals rescued them and admitted them to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital. Matin Khan and his people came to beat them up there too. In order to save their lives, they went to Madaripur Sadar Hospital for treatment in the early hours of the morning. They are undergoing treatment at Madaripur Sadar Hospital.
Victim school teacher Nizamul Haque Khan said, "This land has been sued at various levels, and the court has ruled in our favor in each case. This land is basically the property of our fathers and grandfathers. Matin Khan and Humayun Kabir Khan are cousins from my area. They attacked us to seize our property. We are now suffering from insecurity. We demand justice from the government and the administration.
In this regard, we called the mobile phones of the accused Matin Khan and his brother Humayun Kabir Khan several times, but there was no response.
OC Md. Helaluddin, officer-in-charge of Palang Police Station, said that a written complaint has been received from the victim's family in this incident. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
