'Top terrorist' Mona arrested in Chittagong, huge weapons recovered

The District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Osman Gani alias Mona (35), an alleged accused in 18 cases, in a raid in Hathazari Upazila area of Chittagong. He was arrested in a raid at a building in Chikondandi Union on Sunday.
Police said that during the arrest, a foreign pistol, three single-barrel shotguns with magazines, 11 rounds of fresh pistol bullets, rifle bullets, 17 rounds of shotgun cartridges, a chapati and a switch gear knife were recovered from Mona. In addition, 51,000 taka in cash and several mobile phones of different models were seized.
Police said that during the initial interrogation, Mona confessed to being involved in the illegal arms trade. It is also known that he had been leading various terrorist activities for a long time and used to collect weapons and supply and sell them in different areas.
Law enforcement officials also said that a weapons case has been filed against the arrested Mana at Hathazari Model Police Station. He is previously accused in a total of 18 cases, including murder, robbery, drugs and weapons.
