In Thakurgaon, police have arrested a man named Md. Parvez Islam on charges of circulating his wife’s intimate photos and videos on social media. He was sent to jail by the court on Tuesday (November 3).

According to the case statement, the woman married Parvez Islam on December 9, 2024. Marital discord arose shortly after the wedding. Eventually, alleging abuse and a failure to provide financial support, the wife left her husband’s home about nine months ago and returned to her father’s house.

The complaint alleges that, following the marriage, Parvez captured and stored intimate photos and videos of his wife without her knowledge. He later began pressuring her to agree to a divorce. When she refused, he threatened to circulate these private images and videos on social media.

The complainant further alleges that Parvez sent the photos and videos to his friend, Hafiz Uddin. The two then allegedly conspired to create a fake Facebook account in the wife’s name, where they posted the intimate content. The complaint also states that she was pressured to marry Hafiz Uddin.

Following this, the victim filed a case at the Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station on the night of Monday (November 2). The charges are brought under relevant sections of the Pornography Control Act, 2012, and the Cyber Protection Ordinance, 2025.

The case statement notes that the other accused, Hafiz Uddin, is currently abroad.

Shahjahan Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station, stated that the primary accused, Parvez Islam, has been arrested. He was presented before the court on Tuesday, where the judge ordered him to be sent to jail.
