The pre-announced 'prayer and mass march of students' program of the anti-discrimination student movement was observed across the country today. Ignoring the rain, a heated situation was created in different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka around this program. Clashes, chases and shootings also occur here and there. At this time, the students involved in the quota reform movement in Chapainawabganj held an exceptional protest march with upside down umbrellas.
On Friday (August 2) afternoon, the agitating students held an exceptional demonstration at the city's Baten Khan intersection.
Around 3:30 pm on Friday, the students from different directions gathered in Baten Khan intersection of the city. Gathering together, the procession took a short walk around Shanti Junction and reached Bara Indara Junction. During the rally, the agitators held umbrellas upside down on their heads.
At this time, the speaker said, 'We are continuing the program today in the rain. And in the rain we hold our umbrella upside down and do a program. It means, we have umbrellas; But it is of no use to us. We are getting wet in the rain. Similarly the state is like an umbrella. To protect us. But the state is not providing security. against us We have police; But we are not safe. We have freedom, but no freedom outside the government. We have democracy, but no freedom of opinion. The procession was supposed to go to Nimtala intersection via Sadar Hospital, but they ended the procession there according to the police.
