A storm of controversy has erupted in the music world of West Bengal again. Cactus band lead vocalist Sidhu recently made a comment on popular artist Nachiketa Chakraborty's much-discussed song 'Neelanjana'. Nachiketa's fans are angry over this comment.
Recently, in an interview on a YouTube channel called 'Time and Tide Podcast with Sourav', Sidhu claimed that Nachiketa's song 'Neelanjana 1' was inspired by a song by the popular Bangladeshi band Feedback. He mentioned the similarity of the lines and melody of Feedback's song 'Din Jay Din Chale Jay'.
According to Sidhu, 'The melody of the song "Neelanjana 1" is taken from Feedback's song. There are many such examples in the music world.' However, he also said that the purpose of his comment was not to insult any artist.
After this comment came out, a storm of criticism started on social media. Nachiketa's fans are reacting by criticizing Sidhu. However, Nachiketa himself is not willing to enter into any debate on the issue. He told Anandabazar, 'Sidhu said what he felt. I have nothing to be angry about.'
Regarding Sidhu's statement, he also said, 'Everyone has their own opinion. I don't waste time on who said what.' However, Nachiketa's fans are not able to take the issue lightly.
The music world of West Bengal is facing a new controversy over Sidhu's claim. Many are saying that the issue of inspiration in music is nothing new, but the respect of the artist should be kept intact.
