The hearing regarding framing of charges in the case filed against actress Parimani under the Narcotics Control Act has been postponed again. Parimani could not appear in court on Monday (August 10) due to her child's illness and birthday. The court has set a new date for the hearing after her lawyer requested time. The next hearing in the case will be held on September 29.

Parimani could not appear in court due to child's illness

A hearing on framing of charges in Parimani's case was scheduled for Monday in the court of Judge Rabiul Alam of Dhaka's Special Judge's Court-10. However, since he was not present in the court, lawyer Nilanjana Rifat (Survi) requested time on his behalf.

The application said that Parimani's child has been suffering from fever since he was recently vaccinated. In addition, Monday was the child's birthday. For these reasons, Parimani could not appear in court.

After the hearing, the court granted the lawyer's request and set September 29 as the next hearing of the case.

Raid on Parimoni's house in 2021

According to the case file, on August 4, 2021, RAB raided Parimoni's house in Banani, Dhaka. The agency claimed to have recovered a large amount of liquor and drugs during the raid.

The next day, a case was filed against Parimoni under the Narcotics Control Act. She was in jail for about a month after the case. The actress was later released on bail.

Three accused in the chargesheet

On October 4, 2021, the investigation officer of the case, CID Inspector Kazi Golam Mostafa, submitted a chargesheet to the court against Parimoni and three others.

Along with Parimoni, her managers Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain Howlader have been named as accused in the case.

The court then ordered the formal trial of the case to begin on January 5, 2022.

Parimoni appealed to the High Court

Parimoni appealed to the High Court seeking the cancellation of the proceedings in the case. In response to her application, the High Court issued a rule in March 2022 to suspend the proceedings in her case for three months.

Later, based on the instructions of the High Court, the process of framing charges in the case was resumed. In that continuation, a hearing on the framing of charges was scheduled for Monday. However, the hearing was postponed again due to Porimani's absence.

The judicial proceedings of the case are ongoing

The plaintiff in the case, RAB-1 officer Mujibur Rahman, had already started testifying in the court. However, after Porimani's application, legal proceedings are underway in various stages of the case.

Currently, the judicial proceedings of the case are being taken forward in the lower court following the instructions of the High Court. The next progress of the case will be determined after the hearing on the framing of charges on September 29.

It is worth noting that Porimani came into the spotlight in 2021 by alleging attempted rape against a businessman. Within a few days, RAB conducted a raid at her Banani residence and later a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
