Actress Rumana Islam Mukti has been nominated as a member of the executive council of the Bangladesh Film Artists' Association. She has been appointed to this position as the post of executive member of the association was vacant. After the meeting of the association's executive council on Sunday, President Misha Saudagar administered the oath to Mukti.
After taking the oath, Mukti said, "I have worked for artists even from outside the association. Now I am happy to have the opportunity to work as a member. This will make my work easier. All the members of this committee are great, so I took the oath with pride."
It is learned that the post of executive member had been vacant for a long time. This is because actress Shahnur was absent from three consecutive meetings. The association sent her a show-cause notice, but she did not respond. As a result, her post was declared vacant as per the constitution and Mukti was nominated as the new member.
Shilpi Samity Vice President DA Tayeb said, “Due to Shahnoor’s absence and lack of communication, the post was declared vacant as per the constitution. Later, Mukti was unanimously co-opted as an executive member in the meeting.”
Mukti said, “I have always stood by the artists. This time, if I can work in the committee, things will be much easier. I have already made several plans for the artists. I will start working on implementing them soon.”
Mukti is the daughter of famous actress Anwara Begum. She made her big screen debut by acting in Gautam Ghosh’s ‘Padma Nodir Majhi’. She won the hearts of the audience by playing the role of a landowner’s granddaughter in Humayun Ahmed’s ‘Shravan Megher Din’. Besides, her performance in ‘Chander Alo’ and Chashi Nazrul Islam’s ‘Hasan Raja’ was also praised.
