The student movement in New Delhi demanding the resignation of India's education minister has reached a new level. Popular entertainment stars of the country have spoken out against police attacks and lathicharge on youth on the streets.

Stars like Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj, Arijit Singh, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi have publicly supported the students' demands.

Singer Arijit Singh expressed his anger on social media and said, "Students are also being beaten! Everything will be remembered." Veteran actress Shabana Azmi and actor Prakash Raj went directly to the rally site and stood by the students.

Solidarity of Bangladeshi artists

The impact of this movement in India has also reached Bangladesh. Bangladeshi protesting musician Farzana Wahid Sayan has sung a special song in solidarity with rights activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike in support of the demands of the protesting students.

Through the song, Sayan has given a clear message that he will always stand by the common people who are being beaten up on the streets by speaking out against injustice.

The street fight, the support of celebrities, and the tunes coming from across the border - all of this has now taken the form of a big unity of Indian students.
