The court has issued an arrest warrant against popular actress and producer Meher Afroz Shaon. The Dhaka Metropolitan 1st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued this order on Tuesday. A case was filed against her on charges of physically torturing her father and mother.

Shaon's second mother Nishi Islam has filed the case as the plaintiff. Former head of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid and 12 others have been named as accused in the case.

Two policemen from Badda Police Station appeared in court and admitted the charges. They said that they participated in the detention and torture of plaintiff Nishi Islam on the orders of the then OC of Badda Police Station. The court issued an arrest warrant against Shaon, DB Harun and the other accused as they did not appear.

Expressing satisfaction with the court's order, Nishi Islam said, "We want the accused to be punished. Shaon has exerted a lot of influence in this case. He beat us up."

Earlier in early 2024, Shaon's father, Engineer Mohammad Ali, placed an advertisement in a marriage media seeking a bride for marriage. He met Nishi from that advertisement and married her. After learning about this incident, Shaon physically and mentally tortured his father. At that time, Shaon and his other siblings, under the influence of power, sent his second mother, Nishi, to jail for six months.
