Russia will stand by the Iranian people: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia has always been, is and will stand by the Iranian people. He strongly condemned the recent US attack, calling it baseless and unreasonable. Putin made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in the Kremlin in Moscow on Monday.
At the beginning of the meeting, Putin said, “The attack on Iran has no logic. The US’s behavior in violation of international law is unacceptable. Russia stands by the Iranian people and will always be there.” He reiterated Russia’s commitment to protecting Iran’s security and regional stability.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi welcomed Putin’s stance and said, “Russia is standing on the right side of history today.” He strongly condemned the US attack and expressed gratitude for Russia’s unwavering support. At that time, he said that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Massoud Pezeshkian sent their greetings and good wishes to Russian President Putin.
It is worth noting that Tehran claimed that at least 11 people, including two Iranian military advisers, were killed in a US airstrike on a militia base in Syria last week. Tensions have flared up again in the Middle East since this incident. In this context, analysts see Putin's announcement as an important diplomatic message.
According to analysts, the close relations between Russia and Iran and the increasing polarization around the Western world could add a new dimension to international politics. Putin's statement indicates that Russia may not only provide moral support, but also strengthen strategic cooperation in the future.
