The US military has announced new air and missile attacks on several military installations in the country, including the important port city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran. Washington claims that the operation has hit various strategic targets in Iranian military infrastructure.

The US military's Middle East-based command, CENTCOM (CENTCOM), said in a statement that the operation targeted military control centers, air defense systems, missile and drone-related facilities, and coastal surveillance infrastructure.

The statement also said that several important facilities related to the Iranian Navy and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the Bandar Abbas area near the Strait of Hormuz were also attacked.

In addition, CENTCOM claimed that air strikes were carried out for a long time on coastal defense systems and cruise missile bases located on Greater Tunb Island in the early hours of the morning.

On the other hand, US President Donald Trump has signaled tougher measures against Iran. He warned that additional attacks on the country's critical infrastructure could be considered if Tehran does not return to talks.

Meanwhile, according to international humanitarian law, attacks on facilities essential to the civilian population are prohibited. New discussions have begun in the international community on the issue of complying with the provisions of the Geneva Convention in conducting military operations.

The security situation across the region has become more complicated in the context of the ongoing conflict. According to analysts, if tensions continue, its impact on Middle East stability, energy supplies and the global economy may increase.
