BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has commented that those who want to invent Ziaabad, their motives are not good. He said, "Those who are opposing BNP have invented Ziaabad. BNP has never been able to invent Ziaabad."
Amir Khasru also said that BNP never tried to make Ziaur Rahman a great man and never put up his statue on the streets or put up posters while in power. He said, "We have brought Ziaur Rahman into discussion in party practice, but we do not capitalize on him and do politics at the state level."
He made these comments while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by the Zia Parishad at the National Press Club auditorium on Saturday.
In addition, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said, "BNP was born for reforms and BNP has reformed 90 percent of the country to date. But now the lesson of reform is being taught against us. The reforms that Khaleda Zia talked about 6 years ago through Vision Twenty-Thirty are very important in today's Bangladesh."
He also said, "Now they are listening to us, talking about reforms. But nothing can be more sad than this."
Chowdhury said, "To get out of the crisis that Bangladesh is in, a national unity must be formed. The nation must be brought out of this crisis unitedly."
He warned, "The longer an unelected government runs the country, the more decisions will be made that are alien to the people. No democracy will be established without elections."
