Education Advisor CR Abrar has claimed that there was no negligence on the part of the Education Ministry in the plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara. He said that he has no plans to resign on his own. However, if the government (chief advisor) asks him to step down, he will resign.
He said these things in response to a question from journalists at the Secretariat on Wednesday (July 23). Earlier, he held a meeting with Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Advisor Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan.
On the National Mourning Day last Tuesday, students protested in front of the Secretariat and later entered it. They demanded the resignation of the Education Advisor and the Secretary. The Education Secretary was recalled soon after the incident.
When asked whether it was reasonable for him to remain in the advisory position, CR Abrar said, “The government will consider that. I have tried to properly discharge the responsibility entrusted to me.”
He added, “I think you are the ones giving the verdict. I am trying to convey that there was no mismanagement.”
Regarding the removal of the education secretary, he said, “It is a decision of a higher committee. I was not involved in that decision. I do not know why he was relieved. I do not think there was any disruption in my work.”
He insisted, “There have been discussions about me. If the government thinks I have failed, then if they ask me to go, I will definitely go. There is nothing to cling to here.”
