Dr. Mahmuda Mitu receives July Kanya Award

Dr. Mahmuda Mitu, Deputy Chief Organizer of the National Citizen Party, received the ‘July Kanya Award-2025’ for her courageous role in July. Although she could not attend the event due to her busy schedule, she went to the office later and received the award in front of Nagorik Party leader Nahid Islam. This year, a total of 100 women were given this honor.
The awards were distributed at a program organized by the July Kanya Foundation at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium at Farmgate in the capital on Friday (August 15) afternoon. Fisheries and Livestock Advisor Farida Akhtar was present as the chief guest.
Two more doctors— Assistant Professor of the National Ophthalmology Institute and Hospital Dr. Zakia Sultana Nila and Dr. Israt Jahan Eva, registrar of the surgery department of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, received the award.
Organizers said that the two sister doctors were engaged in serving the injured despite threats from pro-government forces. Dr. Nila said, “Despite the pressure and threats, we tried our best to stand by the injured.” On the other hand, Dr. Eva said, “Being able to serve national heroes is the biggest achievement of my life.”
The July Kanya Foundation said that this award is given every year to recognize the courageous role and sacrifice of women.
