A children's drawing competition titled "We Are the Witnesses of Time" has been organized in protest against the initiative to build a wall in the lake adjacent to Belles Park, known as the only natural water body in Barisal city. Children from various schools participated in it and expressed their love for the environment, love for nature and the language of protest through paints and brushes.
The city residents have called the initiative to build a wall around the lake by the administration an immoral and arbitrary decision. They allege that this construction work will destroy the natural appearance of Belles Park, one of the most beautiful places in Barisal, and will endanger the ecological balance of the city.
Local citizens and environmental movement activists said that the lake is not just a water body, it is a tradition deeply connected to the emotions, entertainment and environment of the people of Barisal. However, the decision to build this wall has been taken without considering the opinions, emotions and public interest of the citizens.
Citizens have demanded that the construction of the wall be stopped immediately and the natural water body be returned to its former open and comfortable environment, so that the people and nature of Barisal can breathe freely again.
The organizers said that the main purpose of this competition was to create public opinion in favor of nature through children's drawings. They expressed hope that the administration will take this message of citizens seriously and take effective steps to protect the natural beauty of Barisal.
