11-party unity's 'Long March' towards Chittagong has begun

The 11-party unity's 'Long March' towards Chittagong has begun from Dhaka, demanding the implementation of the referendum, the trial of the July genocide and the resolution of the country's ongoing crises. The Long March convoy started its journey towards Chittagong after the inaugural rally at Shapla Square in the capital on Saturday (September 5) morning.

An inaugural rally was held at Shapla Square at 7 am before the long march. Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman spoke as the chief guest. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Assistant Secretary General and 11-party unity coordinator Dr. AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad delivered the inaugural speech at the rally. Top leaders of the unity also spoke at the time.

According to the organizers, the main demands of the long march include the implementation of the referendum, the trial of the July genocide and the resolution of the electricity, oil, gas and fertilizer crises. In addition, there are demands for controlling the price increase of essential commodities, stopping extortion and corruption, improving the law and order situation, and stopping narrow partyization.

Road meetings will be held at several places along the designated route of the long march towards Chittagong. Among them, road meetings are scheduled at the truck stand adjacent to Kachpur Bridge in Narayanganj, Padua Bazar Bishwa Road in Comilla, Mahipal in Feni, and Mirsarai. After that, the program is scheduled to end with a public meeting at Laldighi Maidan in Chittagong.

At the rally, the leaders of the 11-party unity called on the government to implement their demands. After the leaders' speeches at the rally at Shapla Chattar, the convoy of the long march left for Chittagong. The participation of leaders, activists, and supporters of the parties was seen in the relevant areas focusing on the program.
