Veteran journalist Shafiq Rehman is returning home from UK after six years. He will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday (August 18) at 12 noon. A 'Shafiq Rehman Return Committee' has been formed to celebrate his return to the country.
On Saturday (August 17), the Shafiq Rehman Return Committee informed that a welcome ceremony has been organized at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on the occasion of the return of Shafiq Rehman, who has been in exile in London for the past six years due to torture by the fascist Sheikh Hasina government. The Bangladesh Biman flight carrying Shafiq Rehman, the founder and editor of the weekly Jayayedin, will arrive in Dhaka at 12 noon on Sunday.

Incidentally, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor sentenced five people, including journalist Shafiq Rehman and acting editor of Daily Amar Desh Mahmudur Rahman, to 7 years in jail in the case of 'conspiracy to kidnap and kill' Sajib Wazed Joy, son of resigned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former IT advisor on August 17 last year. . At the same time, they were sentenced to another month in jail without paying a fine of 5 thousand rupees.

Earlier, on August 3, 2015, the case was filed by a police officer at Paltan police station. Shafiq Rehman was arrested on April 16, 2016 in this case. After being released on bail, he had to leave the country.
