BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Bangladesh has the support of the entire world in its transition to democracy. He claimed that the support of the democratic world in particular is playing an important role in Bangladesh's struggle to restore democracy.

He said this while talking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Friday (October 3) night. He returned home on an Emirates Airlines flight after his visit to the United States.

In response to questions from reporters at the airport, the BNP Secretary General said, "Our message is the same - we will prepare for the elections to be held in February to return to democracy, as instructed by our leader Mr. Tarique Rahman. The world is with us in this process of transition to democracy."

Regarding the meeting with representatives of various countries at the UN General Assembly, he said, "We have talked to everyone. Naturally, we have also discussed with those who were there."

He further added, “At the invitation of the Honorable Chief Advisor, we participated in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. We fulfilled our responsibilities properly. We were able to present Bangladesh to the world. In addition, the meetings outside the session have also been positive for the future of the country's democracy.”

In response to the harassment incident at the airport in New York, Mirza Fakhrul said, “We do not make a big deal of it. This is a culture of the Awami League, they create such incidents.”

It is worth noting that on September 23, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus visited the United States to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He was accompanied by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul and several other political leaders. Although the Chief Advisor returned home on October 2, Fakhrul returned home a day later after attending a party event.

The chief advisor's delegation also included BNP acting chairman's advisor Humayun Kabir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, NCP member secretary Akhtar Hossain and joint convener Tasnim Zara.
