Will try to make Noakhali a division if BNP comes to power: Bulu

BNP standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Bulu has promised to elevate Noakhali to a separate administrative division. He said, “If BNP comes to power, we will make a strong effort to make Noakhali a division.”
He said these things at a press conference organized by the Noakhali District Association of Dhaka at the National Press Club on Monday (October 6).
Bulu said, “The area of Noakhali district is increasing by about two thousand square kilometers. It is a seaport, industrialization is also increasing rapidly. In the history of the birth of Bangladesh, the leaders of Noakhali were in the front line leadership. If Sirajul Alam Khan had not been born, Bangladesh would not have been born. ASM Abdur Rab was the first to hoist the flag of Bangladesh. Many of the country’s prominent journalists, politicians, and administrative officials are from Noakhali.”
He further said, “After the creation of Pakistan, the first district committee was formed through the Noakhali District Association. Now it is time to recognize that contribution to Noakhali. If BNP comes to power, the formation of Noakhali division will be given top priority.”
Regarding the expansion of the division during the BNP’s rule, Bulu said, “Earlier, it was important to divide Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh into divisions. Now it is time to declare Noakhali division. Our first priority will be administrative decentralization and providing services to the doorsteps of the people.”
At the press conference, former secretary and senior vice-president of Dhaka’s Noakhali District Association KM Mozammel Haque said, “Noakhali has a history of three thousand years. Compared to Comilla, Noakhali has an area of about 1200 square kilometers and a population of about 4 million. Important government offices, industries and economic establishments of the country are located here.”
He further said, “Noakhali’s contribution in the field of river ports, blue economy and maritime economy is undeniable. The contribution of Noakhali’s industrialists to Bangladesh’s GDP is about 30 percent. Decentralization of administrative activities and division of Noakhali is the demand of the hour for the welfare of the people.”
At that time, the speakers urged the government to declare Noakhali division and said, “Noakhali is not just a district, it is a symbol of history, tradition and economic strength. If Noakhali is declared a division, the development of the southeastern region of the country will be more dynamic.”
Closing line:
The press conference organized to demand the declaration of Noakhali as a division has given rise to new discussions in political and administrative circles. Many say that if Noakhali is a division, it will open a new horizon on the economic map of the country.
