Eight parties including Jamaat are conspiring to sabotage the election: Mirza Fakhrul

The heat is rising in the political arena over the upcoming parliamentary elections. In this situation, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has termed the demand for a referendum by eight like-minded parties including Jamaat-e-Islami as a 'conspiracy to sabotage the election'.
He made this comment as the chief guest at a short pre-rally gathering on the occasion of the historic November 7 Revolution and Solidarity Day organized in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Friday (November 7) afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said, "A political party has formed an alliance with several parties. They are putting pressure on the government by demanding a referendum before the election. This is not just a demand, but a planned conspiracy to sabotage the election before the election."
He further said, “BNP has clearly stated that if there is a referendum, it must be held on the election day. Holding a referendum on a separate day means unnecessary expenditure of money and complicating the election process. Those who are demanding a referendum before the election are basically taking such steps to sabotage the election.”
Mirza Fakhrul emphasized, “The election must be held next February. Otherwise, the people of the country will not accept that election.”
After the rally, a rally was held from the Nayapaltan office at around 4:15 pm. The rally ended in front of the Sonargaon Hotel at the SAARC Fountain.
Thousands of party leaders and activists participated in this program held in the presence of top BNP leaders. Speakers at the pre-rally rally claimed that BNP’s movement will continue to restore democracy in the country and establish people’s voting rights.
