No compromise in building a country free from corruption and misrule: Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Jamaat-e-Islami will not compromise in any way in building a society based on justice and fairness in the country and in building a Bangladesh free from corruption and misrule, said the party's Ameer and Dhaka-15 parliamentary candidate Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

He said, "We do not do the politics of promises, but rather want to build a new Bangladesh by matching words and deeds. Our real goal is to gain the trust of the people."

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a friendly rally organized by a support group at Mirpur Pirerbagh Jhilpar in the capital on Friday night.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "Before the election, many people make various promises - they dream of making Bangladesh America or Canada, but after the election, they forget that dream. The people have been cheated time and again, this time it is time to say no to the cheaters."

He further said, “Bangladesh is an independent sovereign country. We will not accept anyone’s elder brother or elder sister. We will walk with our heads held high. Our foreign policy will be friendship with all countries, not enmity with anyone.”

He also wants to focus on the future generation of the country. In his words, “We want to build a generation that will be self-reliant, not dependent on the government. They themselves will play a role in the development of the country.”

The Jamaat Ameer said, “We have wasted time fighting and arguing about the past, as a result we have fallen behind in global competition. Now is the time to move forward with unity and positive plans.”

He expressed hope that if the people give him the opportunity, Jamaat will build a humane and just Bangladesh by establishing a moral and modern education system, justice for all and respectful relations with the developed world.

Earlier in the day, he offered prayers at Pirerbagh Chapra Mosque, Baitul Arafa and Barabagh Gausia Mosque and exchanged greetings with the devotees.
