Inquilab Manch spokesperson and potential independent MP candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency Sharif Osman Hadi is still not out of danger. Doctors have said that the next 72 hours are very risky for him. He has been undergoing treatment in the ICU at a private hospital in the capital since he was shot on Friday.
He was transferred from Dhaka Medical College Hospital to Evercare Hospital on Friday night. He is currently on life support. According to hospital sources, although his physical condition is somewhat stable, it cannot be said that he is completely out of danger.
Inquilab Manch held a press conference in front of Evercare Hospital around 11 pm on Friday. There, the organization's member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said, "Hadi's condition has improved somewhat after being shot, but he is still not out of danger. Doctors have told us that the next 72 hours are the most important."
He also said that a 24-hour ultimatum has been given until Saturday night to arrest those involved in the attack. If the culprits are not arrested within the stipulated time, strict action will be announced.
Meanwhile, while checking on Hadi's condition, Dr. Abdul Ahad, a doctor at the neurosurgery department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said, "Hadi's organs are working fairly well. The situation has been monitored. No further surgery may be required later."
Police said that maximum efforts are being made to identify and arrest those involved in the attack. However, no one could be arrested in the incident till Saturday morning.
In this regard, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam said, "We are determined to arrest the criminals in the incident of shooting Osman Hadi. RAB, police and CID are working together. We will catch the culprits."
It is worth noting that on Friday, miscreants on motorcycles opened fire on Osman Hadi in the capital's Bijoynagar area while he was returning in a rickshaw after an election campaign. He suffered a serious head injury in the firing. Since the incident, widespread concern and anger have arisen across the country.
Sharif Osman Hadi, who graduated in political science from Dhaka University, became a hot topic of discussion after the political changes in August last year. Political analysts consider such attacks on him during the ongoing election process a threat to democracy and a safe electoral environment.
