Bangladesh has written history on the soil of Pakistan. Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim went to the country of Shan Masood-Babar Azam and won the Test series for the first time. The Tigers are brimming with confidence after defeating Pakistan at their home ground. Bangladeshi cricket fans hope that this time Shantara will do something good in India as well.
Bangladesh went on a tour of India with balloons of expectations. Expectations are sky high for the Tigers this year. After defeating Pakistan on their soil a few days ago, cricket fans are naturally dreaming about Bangladesh. The first of the two-match Test series will begin on September 19.
Before the upcoming Test series, Bangladeshi cricketers have reached several milestones. Team Tigers have already reached Chennai, the venue of the first Test. Bangladesh is yet to beat India and South Africa in Test format. The Tigers have played 13 Tests against India, losing 11 and drawing two. The two drawn Tests were mostly rain-soaked.
With this series, the opportunity to win the first Test against India has been created in front of Bangladesh. The Tigers have already won Tests against nine countries. If they beat India, Bangladesh's number of wins will reach double digits. Apart from this, the cricketers also have personal milestones.
Mushfiqur Rahim
Mushfiqur Rahim, the team's reliable batsman, is 9 runs away from scoring the highest run for Bangladesh across all three formats. In this case, opener Tamim Iqbal, who has been away from cricket since last year, is at the top. His runs are 15,192. And Mushfiq's runs are 15,184. Being in great form, Mushfiq has a golden opportunity to take over Tamim's record in the series against India.
Taijul Islam
After Shakib Al Hasan, left-arm spinner Taijul Islam has a chance to touch the milestone of taking 200 Test wickets as the second bowler of Bangladesh. He needs 5 wickets for that. Taijul had a chance to touch this record in the Pakistan series. But Taijul did not get a chance to play any match due to team combination.
Mehdi Hasan Miraj
If he takes 7 wickets in the series against India, spinner Mehdi Hasan Miraj will become the fourth bowler of Bangladesh to become the owner of 300 wickets in all three formats. Shakib is on top of this list. His victim is 708 wickets. Mashrafe bin Mortaza and Mustafizur Rahman are in the next two places. Mashrafe took 389 wickets and Mustafiz 323 wickets.
Calm before making history
Among the captains who have captained Bangladesh for at least 5 matches, Nazmul Hossain Shantor's record is the best. He has surpassed all previous captains in the history of the country by becoming the captain of only 6 matches. But compared to the record, Shanta got very few matches.
Only four players have won multiple Tests for Bangladesh. Nazmul Hossain comes in this list after Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Muminul Haque. In the meantime, he has won 3 Tests equal to Muminul Haque. In front of Shakib 4 wins and Mushfiqur 7 wins. Among them, only Shakib and Shanto tasted victory in their first Test.
Apart from this, he has set the record of winning 3 Tests in the least number of matches in the history of the country. The India series is ahead. Getting 6 more tests this year. If he wins at least two matches during this period, the current captain of the Tigers will become the fastest captain in the history of the country to win 5 Tests.
