Ghazanfar is the new spin mystery of Afghans

Published: 05:14 7 November 2024
It's like getting confused by a question from outside the syllabus. Bangladesh is confused on the question of Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar. Batting at a moderate target of 236 runs, the fractured state of Bangladesh cricket has been exposed at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Ghazanfar's 6 wickets for 26 runs. Bangladesh 7 wickets for 12 runs. The first ODI of the series was lost by 92 runs.

Rashid Khan, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman… Afghanistan's reliance on the two enigmatic spinners has long been central. Now Ghazanfar's name can be added to it easily. Once was a pacer. From there came the spin. That's probably where the slightly longer runup than usual spin comes from.
The ability to emphasize is also natural. Has become a perfect offspinner with the benefit of all different deliveries. Even if you are an offspinner by name, you can easily do legspin with Ghazanfar. Apart from carrom ball, back spin, googly, the ball can turn as desired in both directions.
Experienced cricketers like Mushfiqur Rahim also got eaten by Ghazanfar's sudden spin. At 6 feet 2 inches in height, this spinner's wrist strength is also amazing. Born in 2006, Ghazanfar, like the rest of the subcontinent, started with tennis ball. Being able to spin the ball is the mantra of success in neighborhood cricket called tape-tennis or tennis.
Ghazanfar was successful in this work from the beginning of his career. After starting playing tennis, Paktia started playing at an academy in the province. From there, he got a call-up to Afghan Shapagiza Cricket League team MIS Ainak Knights. Former Afghan captain Dawlat Ahmadzai pulled him into this team.
Impressed with Ghazanfar's ability, Dawlat told him to be a perfect spinner. Even if he came from pace to spin, he did not change much in the way the ball was pitched. Quicker delivery on the spin ball with some full length balls. The difference with Mujib-ur Rehman lies there. And in this Bangladesh's innings broke like a house of cards.
Even if you are an offspinner by name, you can easily do legspin with Ghazanfar. Apart from carrom ball, back spin, googly, the ball can turn as desired in both directions.
At the age of just 18, he made it to the limelight of IPL. Even though Kolkata Knight Riders did not play any match in IPL this year, no one can stop his game next time. He played for Rayalpindi Riders in the Pakistan Junior League three years ago. He also got a call to BPL. This time he will play for Rangpur Riders in the field of Bangladesh.
In the international arena, he showed glimpses of his bowling secrets in the Youth World Cup, Emerging Asia Cup. He made three records when he came to bowl against Bangladesh yesterday. Ghazanfar took 6 wickets as the third youngest bowler in boys' ODIs. Pakistan legend Waqar Younis took 6 wickets for 26 runs against Sri Lanka in 1990 against Sri Lanka in Sharjah at the age of 18 years and 164 days. Yesterday, Ghazanfar got 6 wickets for 26 runs in 18 years and 231 days.
Also, Afghanistan's cricket history also has the second best bowling figures in ODIs. He also now holds the best bowling figures among spinners in ODIs at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium behind Muttiah Muralitharan.
Sukanta Bhattacharya sang the virtue of '18' in the poem '18'. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is also passing the 18th spring of life. As he has revealed himself at this stage of his career, he is sure to lead Afghan cricket for a long time. Afghanistan can also say, the new mystery is in the town.
