Where the first innings saw a storm of four sixes, the second innings was like a slaughterhouse for the batters. Chittagong Kings opened their second match of the tournament by defeating Durbar Rajshahi by a huge margin of 105 runs in the first match of the day in Mirpur. This is the second biggest win in the history of BPL in terms of runs.
On Friday, in Mirpur, Rajshahi was all out for 114 runs after being set a target of 220 runs by Chittagong Kings.
Despite the pace of scoring runs after batting for 220 runs, Rajshahi also lost wickets regularly. They scored 58 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the six overs of the power play. Most of the runs came from the bat of Mohammad Haris. He was dismissed by Mohammad Wasim for 32 runs off 15 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.
For Rajshahi, Enamul Haque Bijoy and Mohammad Haris put on a 32-run stand off 19 balls, which was the highest. Apart from this, Yasir Ali and Akbar Ali put on a 31-run stand off 20 balls. Yasir scored 16 off 15 balls and Akbar scored 18 off 12 balls.
The rest of the batters also could not make much of an impact. For Chittagong, Alish Al Islam took 3 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. Arafat Sani also took three wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs.
Earlier, Chittagong Kings lost their first wicket on the second ball of the innings after losing the toss and opting to bat. Parvez Hossain Emon was caught by Sabbir Hossain off Taskin Ahmed. Pakistan opener Usman then stormed Rajshahi's bowlers.
However, Usman also extended his innings along with increasing the run rate. He scored a half-century off 21 balls with aggressive batting. His run-scoring pace did not slow down after touching fifty. Although Usman could have returned before scoring a century.
He took a catch while playing a short delivery by Sohag Gazi at square leg. However, neither Sabbir Hossain nor Shafiul Islam could take advantage of it. This Pakistani batsman scored a century in 48 balls after getting his life. In the end, Usman returned to the dressing room after being out for 123 runs in 62 balls, hitting 13 fours and 6 sixes.
This is the 33rd century in the history of BPL. In addition, this Pakistani batsman scored his second century in his career. Chittagong built a mountain of 219 runs against Durbar Rajshahi on the back of his century.
Earlier, Usman also scored a century for Chittagong Challengers against Rangpur Riders in 2023.
