BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has stood by Narayanganj's Under-12 Youth Chess Champion Sidratul Muntaha to overcome the uncertainty of participating in the FIDE Master Chess World Tournament due to financial constraints. Muntaha had received an invitation to participate in the tournament to be held in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, on September 18. But due to financial constraints, it became uncertain whether he would go.
After learning about the matter, Tarique Rahman ordered assistance. Yesterday afternoon, BNP Sports Secretary and former national football team captain Aminul Islam went to Muntaha's house in Chashara in Narayanganj city and handed over financial assistance to him.
Expressing gratitude for the support, Muntaha said, “I was surprised that former national team captain footballer Aminul Islam came to our house. He came to support on behalf of BNP. It is like a dream for me. I prayed to Allah that the tournament should not be lost. My prayers have been accepted.”
Muntaha’s father Mamun said, “After receiving BNP’s support, I ask everyone to pray for my daughter. I hope my daughter will do something good.”
Aminul Islam said that Tarique Rahman has announced the relaunch of ‘New Twenty’ to search for talent. In the future, talented players from all over the country will be supported nationally through the ‘New Twenty Sports’ program. He added, “Today, on Tarique Rahman’s instructions, I am standing by Muntaha with support.”
