Eight pieces of luggage belonging to the Rajshahi Divisional Cricket Team went missing while the team was returning to Rajshahi from Dhaka following a National Cricket League (NCL) match. The missing luggage contained valuable items, including the cricketers' passports, iPhones, cash, and US dollars. The police in Rajshahi and Natore districts have launched an investigation into the incident.
The matter came to light on Wednesday morning (October 14) when it was discovered that eight bags were missing while the team's belongings were being unloaded at a hotel in Rajshahi. Cricketer S. M. Meherab Hossain subsequently filed a written complaint at the Rajpara Police Station.
According to team sources, the cricketers returned to Rajshahi by air after their match against the Khulna Division. A covered van belonging to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), carrying 54 pieces of the team's luggage, had departed by road the previous night.
The driver of the covered van reported that he had stopped for a meal near the Hatikumrul-Bonpara bypass in Natore. Later, at a filling station in Puthia, Rajshahi, he discovered that the rear door of the vehicle was open.
According to the complaint, the missing items include Meherab’s passport, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, 300 US dollars, 300,000 BDT in cash, and other personal belongings.
Additionally, other missing items include a massage belt and shoes belonging to cricketer Abdul Kader, a speaker belonging to Mohor Sheikh Antor, and clothing belonging to Md. Walid.
Touhid Tarek, the manager of the Rajshahi team, stated that the cricketers are deeply concerned about the loss of their belongings ahead of an important upcoming match against the Chattogram Division, scheduled for October 18.
Abul Kalam Azad, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajpara Police Station, confirmed that an investigation has been initiated following the complaint. Police suspect that the luggage may have been stolen somewhere along the highway between Natore and Rajshahi. Law enforcement agencies from both districts are utilizing technology to assist in the recovery of the items.
This incident was also covered in reports by *Bangla Tribune*, *Jugantor*, and *Manabkantha* on October 14–15.
