A government raid has been conducted on an illegal ice cream factory set up in Sitakunda, Chittagong, taking advantage of the heat.
When people's lives are suffering due to the intense heat, ice cream tempts everyone from the elderly to children. Jasim Uddin of Bara Kumira area of Sitakunda took advantage of this opportunity. This factory, which he built in his house, does not have any government registration, BSTI approval or certificate from the Department of Environment. For many years, he had been running this factory freely in a dirty and unclean environment, without government approval.
The factory used to produce fake ice cream of various famous companies and brands, which is a punishable offense.
In continuation of this, on Tuesday, October 21 at 12:30 pm, BSTI Assistant Officer Reagan Vaidya, Sitakunda Upazila Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Mamun and members of Sitakunda Model Police Station conducted a joint operation in the Bora Kumira Ghatghar area of Sitakunda, Chittagong.
Ice cream worth approximately 50,000 taka was seized in this operation. The seized ice cream was destroyed in public. At the same time, the factory owner was fined 25,000 taka as per the BSTI Act 2018 and sentenced to six months in prison in default.
