Class 9 student dies after touching kitchen wire

A class 9 student named Asif Rana (16) died while connecting an electrical connection in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh. The accident occurred on Thursday (October 30) evening in Chutchutia Gach area of Tirnoihat union of the upazila.
The deceased Asif Rana was the son of Nur Jamal of the same area and a class 9 student of Shalbahan High School. According to family sources, Asif was connecting a torn wire to his uncle Abdur Razzak's kitchen electrical holder in the evening when he suddenly got electrocuted and fell to the ground.
Family members quickly rescued him and took him to Tentulia Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Jahangir Alam, member of Ward No. 5 of Tirnoihat Union Parishad, said, "Asif was a very polite and talented boy. His death in such an accident while repairing an electrical wire has saddened all of us."
Tentulia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Musa Mia said, “After the incident, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family after the post-mortem report. An accidental death (UD) case has been filed at the police station in this regard.”
The tragic incident has cast a shadow of grief over the area. Locals said that such an accident could have been avoided if the help of a professional electrician had been sought after, as the man inadvertently touched an electric wire.
