A man has been accused of beating his son in Purba Ramchandrapur village of Auria union in Narail Sadar upazila over allegations of buying stolen rods. The injured Gaffar Sheikh (50) is currently undergoing treatment at Narail District Hospital.
According to local sources, the names of two youths have come up in the case of theft of several bundles of rods from a house on June 22. Later, during interrogation, it was learned that the stolen rods were sold to local resident Saiful Islam. Locals said that after learning about the matter, Saiful returned the rods.
After this incident, a local arbitration was organized on the afternoon of June 28. It is alleged that when Saiful was not present at the arbitration, his father Gaffar Sheikh was beaten up by some people on the way while he was being called from the shop. Later, locals rescued him and admitted him to the hospital.
The injured man's family demanded that action be taken against those involved in the incident. However, local ward member Mahmud Sheikh said that people were sent to bring Gaffar Sheikh as per the arbitration decision and he admitted that he was beaten on the way. On the other hand, Narail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ajay Kumar Kundu said that no written complaint has been received in this incident yet. If a complaint is received, necessary legal action will be taken after investigating it.
