Four truck drivers arrested from Banglabanda for gang-raping mentally unstable girl

Tetulia Model Police Station Police have arrested four truck drivers from Banglabanda Land Port area on charges of gang-raping a mentally unstable girl in Tetulia, Panchagarh. The heinous incident took place in Banglabanda Land Port area on Wednesday (November 19) night. After receiving information with the help of locals, the police rescued the girl from the spot and later brought her to the police station and arrested the four.
The arrested are—
1. Hasan Ali (20), son of Mintu Mia of Manikchar area of Bogra district
2. Md. Rajib (28), son of Palash Mia of Namuja area of Bogra district
3. Hanif (20), son of Manik Mia of Haripur area of Shibganj police station
4. Sohel (35), son of Malek of Chadina Dakshin Para under Shibganj Police Station
It is learned that around 10 pm on Wednesday, four accused youths forcibly abducted a mentally unstable 19-year-old girl from Paglidangi Bazar area of Tetulia Upazila. Later, they took her to a shop in Banglabanda Land Port area and gang-raped her.
When the accused fled after leaving the girl behind, the police, after receiving information from locals, quickly reached the spot, rescued the girl and took her to the police station. The next morning, four people were arrested from the land port area.
The girl is currently in the custody of Tetulia Model Police Station and steps have been taken to ensure her necessary assistance, including treatment and rehabilitation, according to the police.
Tetulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Musa Mia said, “The accused took the young woman to the land port area under false pretenses and raped her there. After receiving a call from the locals, the police immediately launched a rescue operation. Four people involved in the incident have been arrested. The process of registering a case is underway.”
The incident has sparked widespread anger in the area. Locals have demanded speedy trial and maximum punishment for the culprits.
