Worker dies after being hit by stone-laden truck on Tetulia-Banglabandha highway

A worker named Zahirul Islam (45) was tragically killed after being hit by a stone-laden truck in the Tirnoihat area of the Banglabandha National Highway in Tentulia. The accident occurred on the Tentulia-Banglabandha highway in the Khaykhatpara area of Tirnoihat union at around 8 pm on Tuesday (December 2).
The deceased Zahirul Islam is the son of the late Amer Ali of Dargasing village of the upazila. He had been working as a stone-sand loading worker for a long time.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tentulia Highway Police Station Debashish Roy said that Zahirul was loading stone-sand into a truck near the scene. After loading, he was standing on the road and giving signals as an assistant while the truck was being pulled onto the highway. At that time, another stone-laden truck coming from the Banglabandha direction hit him and seriously injured him on the spot.
After the accident, locals managed to catch the truck that had hit him, but its driver fled. Zahirul was rescued in a seriously injured condition and taken to the Tentulia Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
In this regard, on Wednesday (December 3) morning, Tentulia Bhajanpur Highway Police Station OC Debashish Roy said that preparations are underway to file a regular case under the Road Traffic Act after the incident and the police are working to identify the guilty truck driver.
