Instructions to use virtual platforms in government meetings and seminars to save fuel oil

Published: 12:35 3 June 2026
In view of the global energy situation, the government has ordered the use of virtual platforms in government meetings, workshops and training programs to reduce the use of fuel oil. For this purpose, the concerned ministries, departments and field administrations have been instructed to take necessary measures.
A notification issued by the Field Administration Coordination Branch of the Cabinet Division on Tuesday (June 2) said that in addition to running government activities smoothly, effectively and dynamically, priority should be given to involving field-level participants in meetings, workshops, training and other activities virtually to ensure energy savings.
The instructions also said that district-level participants in departmental-level programs and upazila-level participants in district-level programs should be involved online as much as possible. The government believes that this will reduce unnecessary travel of officials and reduce fuel oil consumption.
However, if there is a special need, direct meetings, workshops or training can be organized. In that case, the concerned authorities will have to take a decision after considering the necessary rationale. The Cabinet Division has urged all ministries, divisions, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and upazila executive officers to implement this directive properly.
Meanwhile, the previous circular issued on the same subject on April 22, 2026, has been cancelled. According to the government, this initiative will help in saving energy on the one hand, and on the other hand, it will play an important role in reducing costs and increasing efficiency by increasing the use of information technology in administrative activities.
