As India-Pakistan relations are facing renewed tension, Trinamool Congress leader Kirti Azad has made explosive allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He claims that the BJP government is playing a 'war drama' to gain political advantage over the recent terrorist attack in Pahelgam, Kashmir. He made these comments in a report published in the Hindustan Times on Saturday.
Kirti Azad said, "Even after this attack, the intelligence department has failed to provide any advance information. Still, the BJP is playing on the emotions of the people for political gain. This is a planned drama." He further added, "The BJP is vocal about the infiltration of Bangladeshis into West Bengal, but they are not able to handle the terrorists entering through their own borders. But the drama is going on - war is war."
Recently, Pakistan has threatened that if India builds a new dam on the Indus River, it will destroy it. In this context, there has been no official response from the Indian government yet. It is in this context that Kirti Azad claims that the Modi government's national security policy has failed.
He further sarcastically said, "The BJP is actually just doing tie tie, whisper, and thumping Gopal!" This comment clearly shows that he is not just criticizing the Modi government, but questioning their entire election strategy.
He expressed concern that the public's attention is being diverted by creating a war situation, so that the main problems—especially internal security and intelligence failures—are suppressed.
