The Yemeni-based armed Houthi group has launched another missile attack on Israel. On Friday (July 25), the Israeli army said that a missile launched from Yemen was successfully shot down.

An army statement said that the Israeli Air Force shot down the missile launched from Yemen immediately after warning sirens sounded in various areas of Israel.

Israel's influential daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that sirens sounded in the southern Negev and the Dead Sea areas due to the missile launch. Sirens were also heard in the Arad, Kiryat Arba and Ein Gedi areas.

Recently, the Houthi group has greatly increased the level of missile and drone attacks against Israel. In particular, when Israel resumed its campaign in Gaza after a two-month ceasefire in March, the Houthis intensified their attacks in response.

It should be noted that Israel has continued bombing Gaza since October 7, 2023. In this context, the Houthis have also been attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea since November, expressing solidarity with the Palestinians. They claim that these attacks are in protest of Israeli oppression of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

According to the United Nations and the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 59,676 people have been killed and more than 143,965 injured in Gaza since the war that began in October 2023. Many people are still missing.
