Bangladesh had great hope to ensure fuel supply - Iran has allowed six ships to pass through the Hormuz Strait. But that hope has been dashed. The shipments of five of the ships that received permission have already been canceled.

Those concerned say that the root cause of the problem is a major mistake - sending the ship list based on old information. However, at that time, global suppliers had stopped fuel supplies due to the war situation.

In particular, QatarEnergy and OQ Trading announced 'suspension of supply due to unexpected circumstances' in early March and stopped fuel supplies. That decision is still in effect, which will continue until at least May 8.

In this case, the list sent for the month of April mentioned five liquefied natural gas shipments - four of which were from QatarEnergy and one from Excelerate Energy. In reality, these shipments are no longer valid.

Petrobangla Chairman Arfanul Haque expressed surprise over the matter and said, it is not clear why the ship list of the shipments that were canceled after the war started was sent.

A source said that due to uncertainty, the energy department had sent the information based on the old plan. And that is where a major discrepancy occurred.

In this situation, new concerns have arisen about the country's energy supply. Now, efforts are being made to find alternative measures by discussing with the supplying companies, the concerned authorities said.
