US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran will face dire consequences if it does not reach an agreement with Washington over its nuclear program. In a television interview, he said that Iran must either reach an agreement or risk being “destroyed.”
Trump’s statement in the interview, published on Friday (May 15), is being seen as one of the toughest positions in recent times. According to him, the United States’ goal is to ensure a diplomatic solution by applying maximum pressure on Tehran.
Trump also claimed that Iran has recently removed various military equipment, including missiles, from its underground facilities. Although he did not present any specific evidence to support this claim. According to him, these equipment can be destroyed in a very short time.
However, he also made relatively soft comments about the current leadership of Iran. Trump said that current Iranian officials are more realistic than before and there are signs of some positive changes in the negotiations.
Trump also expressed a different view on the issue of removing enriched uranium. He said that while the issue is important for political and public opinion reasons, the main goal is to control nuclear capabilities.
Trump's statement has raised new international concerns amid rising tensions in the Middle East. According to analysts, Washington wants to send a message of military pressure along with talks.
