The United Arab Emirates offers a five-year multiple-entry tourist visa for frequent travellers to Dubai and other parts of the country. Under this visa scheme, citizens of all countries can enter the UAE multiple times over a five-year period without requiring a local sponsor or an invitation from a UAE resident.

According to the UAE government portal and Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, or GDRFA, visa holders can stay in the country for up to 90 days on each visit. Subject to approval, the period of stay may be extended for another 90 days. However, the total duration of stay must not exceed 180 days within a year.

Although the visa is valid for five years, it is neither a residence visa nor an employment visa. During its validity period, tourists may enter Dubai and other emirates multiple times, but they must comply with the permitted duration of stay on every visit.

Applicants are required to submit several documents when applying for the visa. These include a recent colour photograph and a copy of a passport that remains valid for at least six months. A bank statement covering the previous six months must also be provided as proof of financial capability.

The bank statement must show a minimum balance of USD 4,000 or its equivalent in a foreign currency. Applicants must also submit proof of valid health insurance covering the UAE, along with a confirmed return ticket or a ticket to their next destination.

One of the main advantages of the visa is that applicants do not need a local sponsor, relative or host in the UAE. Those who meet the financial and other eligibility requirements can apply independently through the relevant government platform.

However, visa approval remains subject to verification and the final decision of the relevant authorities. Additional documents, fees or a financial guarantee may be required depending on the applicant’s nationality, purpose of travel and individual circumstances.

Authorities have also clarified that the visa can only be used for tourism and travel purposes. Working or carrying out any professional activity in the UAE while holding a tourist or visit visa is prohibited by law. Violations may result in fines, visa cancellation or other legal action.

Applicants are advised to check the latest requirements, fees and document guidelines on the official websites of GDRFA Dubai or the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security before submitting an application.
