US strikes again in Iran, 18 killed and 142 injured

At least 18 people were killed and 142 others injured in the recent US airstrikes in Iran, the country's Health Ministry said. This information was reported in a report by Anadolu Agency on Thursday (September 3).

Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Karmanpour said in a post on social media X that the casualties in the US strikes occurred between the evening of August 30 and the evening of September 2. Among the injured are 61 women and 44 minors. Among the dead are two women and a child.

Karmanpour said that behind every number there is a person and a family.

US-Iran tensions have increased again

After a long month of relative silence, military tensions began again with the US attack on Iran's Larak Island last Sunday. The US claims that the attack targeted two Iranian launchers after observing the activities of Iranian forces preparing to carry sea mines.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) then retaliated by targeting US military installations in various countries in the Middle East. Various reports have indicated that the targets of Iran's attacks include US military positions in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Iraq.

Then, on Tuesday night, CENTCOM, which oversees US military operations in the Middle East, carried out new airstrikes on various IRGC targets inside Iran.

Allegations of attack on wedding ceremony

Among the recent attacks, an attack on a house in the Kuhestaq area of ​​southern Iran has also sparked widespread discussion. Iranian sources claim that the attack took place during a wedding ceremony. Four people were killed and more than 60 were injured. The US, however, denied allegations of deliberately targeting civilians.

The United Nations also expressed concern over the civilian casualties and called on all parties to stop the military conflict and return to a diplomatic solution.

Tensions rise in Middle East as retaliation strikes

In response to the US attack, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks targeting US interests and military installations in the Middle East. Several countries, including Kuwait, have activated their air defense systems.

The conflict is also having an impact on the international energy market. The decrease in shipping traffic in the important Strait of Hormuz has created new concerns about the supply of oil in the world market. On Thursday, oil prices in the international market are also fluctuating depending on the situation in the Middle East.

US President Donald Trump also did not rule out the possibility of further military action against Iran. As a result, concerns are growing in the Middle East and international circles about whether the newly started conflict will expand.
