Hridoy unbeaten on 350 runs, new history in Bangladesh cricket

Tawhid Hridoy created history with the bat on South African soil. The captain of Bangladesh 'A' team played a brilliant innings of 350 runs unbeaten in the second match of four days against South Africa 'A' team. His innings set a new record for the highest individual score in Bangladesh's first-class cricket.

Hridoy created history on the fourth and final day of the match at the NWC Oval in Potchefstroom. After leaving the field unbeaten on 204 runs the previous day, he made his innings bigger on the last day. In the end, the batsman remained unbeaten on 350 runs with the help of 27 fours and 10 sixes from 481 balls.

Hridoy surpasses Tamim's record

Hridoy's innings of 350 runs broke Tamim Iqbal's long-standing record in Bangladesh's first-class cricket. Tamim scored 334 runs unbeaten against Central Zone in Mirpur in 2020. Until now, that was the highest first-class innings by any Bangladeshi batsman.

Hridoy has surpassed that record and set a new milestone. At the same time, he has achieved the feat of scoring a triple century as the third batsman in Bangladeshi first-class cricket. Before him, Rakibul Hasan and Tamim Iqbal had played innings of 313 and 334 runs.

Triple century as the first Bangladeshi on foreign soil

Not only the country's record, Hridoy's innings has brought another historical achievement. He is the first Bangladeshi batsman to score a triple century in first-class cricket on foreign soil. He achieved this feat in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

An innings of 350 runs as a visiting batsman in South African first-class cricket is also rare. Before Hridoy, England's Dennis Compton scored 300 runs on South African soil in the 1948-49 season. Hridoy's 350 is now the highest individual innings by a foreign batsman in South African first-class cricket.

Big collection by Bangladesh 'A' team

Relying on Hridoy's extraordinary batting, Bangladesh 'A' team declared its innings by scoring 676 runs for 8 wickets in the first innings. Earlier, South Africa 'A' team had scored 512 runs in the first innings. As a result, Bangladesh 'A' team got a lead of 164 runs in the first innings.

Rezaur Rahman played an important role in the end with Hridoy. He was unbeaten on 31 runs off 110 balls. After Bangladesh declared their innings at 676 runs, South Africa 'A' team scored 18 runs in the second innings towards the end of the match. The match was ultimately drawn.
