Voting for the presidential election in the United States will be held on November 5.

The campaigns of Trump and his main rival, Kamala Harris, have accused them of being targeted by cyber attacks in recent weeks. US-based technology companies have also identified such attacks.

In a joint statement issued on Monday, the intelligence agencies said with "confidence" that Iran had carried out cyber attacks targeting individuals from both political camps. Their attack aims to 'influence the electoral process of the United States'.

On August 10, Trump's campaign claimed that their internal communications were being intercepted by a 'foreign source'. Trump's running mate JD Vance's information is also being hacked illegally.

Meanwhile, the media outlet Politico said they received several e-mails containing information about Trump's campaign from a source. However, they refused to reveal their names.

On August 13, three days after Trump's camp complained, Kamala's election camp also claimed to have been attacked by foreign hackers. However, their campaign did not give any indication as to who might be behind the hacking.

"In July, the campaign's legal and security teams were informed by the FBI that we were the target of a foreign influence operation," a Kamal campaign official told AFP.

Google also said this month that Iran-backed hackers targeted Democratic and Republican presidential campaigns.

A hacker group known as 'APT42' may be behind this attack, according to Google's report. The hacker group is linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

This hacker group is behind influential people and organizations in Israel and the United States. Government officials and political campaigns are also being targeted.

Google's cyber threat analysis team said they also saw APT42 hackers trying unsuccessfully to break into personal accounts of people associated with Biden, Kamala and Trump.
