The road in Kalidas Nili village in Ward No. 1 of Naogaon Union No. 5 of Tarash Upazila of Sirajganj district is now in an extremely bad condition. Even with a little rain, this road becomes impassable. Due to lack of repair for a long time, mud, potholes and a slippery layer of mud have formed across the road, which has now become dangerous for pedestrians and vehicles.
School and college students, farmers and ordinary people travel on this road every day. But due to the fragile condition of the road, their daily life has now become miserable. The situation is especially dire during the rainy season. Even with a little rain, the road gets flooded and the locals have to walk through mud and water.
Ambulances or any emergency vehicles carrying patients cannot ply on this road. As a result, it is not possible to take patients to the hospital on time. Farmers also suffer greatly—they cannot take their produce to the market, and as a result, they are deprived of fair prices.
Local residents said that they have been requesting the public representatives to repair the road for a long time, but no initiative has been taken yet. They allege that even though the candidates promise development during the elections, they do not follow up later.
Locals demand that this important road in Kalidas Nili village should be repaired as soon as possible to make the transportation of the common people easier.
In this regard, Mizanur Rahman Majnu, Chairman of Naogaon Union Parishad No. 5, said, “Currently, there is no government budget for this road. Besides, since some parts of the road are paved, the repair of the remaining parts is in the legal process. Efforts are being made to resolve the issue legally.”
Locals hope that the administration and public representatives will take quick action so that the people of Kalidas Nili village can get rid of this long-standing suffering.
