Former Speaker Shirin Sharmin released on bail from Kashimpur Central Jail

Former Speaker of Bangladesh Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury has been released on bail, which is an important event in the current political context. She was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from a house in Dhanmondi, Dhaka early on Tuesday. She was charged with violence, vandalism and attempted murder in a case filed at the Lalbagh Police Station in the capital.
After the arrest, the police applied for a remand, but the court rejected it and ordered her to be sent to prison. She was later kept in Kashimpur Women's Central Jail in Gazipur. After the hearing on Sunday, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Zakir Hossain granted her bail.
She was released from prison at around 6:30 pm on the same day, Jail Superintendent Kawalin Nahar confirmed the matter. After her release, she left for Dhaka. This incident has sparked renewed discussion in the political arena, and the case is still ongoing.
