The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has finally taken back 10 people, including women, men and children, who were pushed back at Barabari border in Panchagarh after about 70 hours.

On Monday (June 8), members of the Tiapara camp of the 93rd Battalion of the BSF turned off the border lights several times and took the 10 people back to India. It is reported that the border lights were turned on again later.

Nilphamari 56th BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter and said that the BSF informed the BGB at night that they wanted to take back the pushed-back people. Later, they were taken back with the consent of the BGB. At the same time, he also mentioned that the BSF has been strictly informed to stop such push-backs in the future.

Local resident Yusuf Ali said that a dramatic situation developed in the border area at night. At one point, the 10 people were taken away by turning off the border lights, then turning on the lights again and keeping them at the zero line for some time. Later, they were taken back to India again.

Meanwhile, the locals claim that they will not accept any kind of push-in at the border and they called for maintaining normalcy in the area.

Earlier, on Friday morning, the BSF tried to push 10 men, women and children into Bangladesh through the sub-pillar area number 5 of Main Pillar 758. However, they could not enter Bangladesh at that time due to the obstruction of the BGB. Later, despite several flag meetings, the issue was not resolved.
