A new political party, ‘Janata Party Bangladesh’, has officially started its journey under the leadership of National Film Award-winning actor and pioneer of the safe road movement Ilias Kanchan. The new party made its debut at a press conference held at a hotel in the capital on Friday (April 25).
Ilias Kanchan himself has become the chairman of the party formed with the slogan ‘Garboh Mora Insafer Desh’ in mind. Former president of the National Press Club, Shawkat Mahmud, has been appointed as the party’s secretary general.
The party’s main goal is said to be a platform that believes in the spirit of the Liberation War and the vision of 2024, with the aim of establishing the rights of the masses and building a just state.
Regarding the formation of the party, Ilias Kanchan said, "Politics is nothing new to me. I have been serving the public for a long time. Now I want to take it forward in an organized manner. We are preparing to participate in the next national elections and plan to field candidates in 300 seats in the country."
He also said that the people of the country have lost trust in the current political parties. From that point on, the need for alternative leadership is being felt, and 'Janata Party Bangladesh' will come forward in that role.
