BNP is putting unfair pressure on the government: Jamaat leader Taher

Jamaat-e-Islami's Naib-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has alleged that BNP is currently putting unfair pressure on the government. He said that BNP signed the July charter adopted by the National Consensus Commission but is now denying it, which is an indication of irresponsibility.
He said these things while talking to journalists at the Comilla Central Medical College auditorium in Padua Bazar, Comilla Sadar Dakshin Upazila, around 11 am today, Friday. Later, he addressed the polling station directors' rally organized by Chauddagram Upazila Jamaat as the chief guest.
Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, “We all signed the July Charter through the Consensus Commission. The process of incorporating that charter into the constitution through a referendum was going on as planned. Even though everything was fine, BNP has suddenly changed its mind. They have been in consensus for so long and are now saying that they do not accept it. This is tantamount to creating unfair pressure on the government.”
He also said, “If BNP did not want to accept the reforms, it could have said so at the beginning of the process. But they are wasting time and are now opposing the reforms. This is revealing their political irresponsibility. BNP is systematically trying to create a political crisis in the country.”
Jamaat leader Taher said, “Jamaat-e-Islami has been saying from the beginning that reforms must be based on the opinion of the people. The people are the source of power. Now BNP is saying that they accept the referendum, but the national election and the referendum must be held together. But the referendum is for reforms, and the elections are for government formation. It is as if BNP is trying to mix palm juice and rum juice together.”
He referred to BNP's behavior as political confusion and said, "If there is no election, BNP has no benefit. Rather, it will give foreign conspirators new opportunities in the country's internal politics. The way BNP is behaving, it seems that they want to return to the old Bangladesh without reforms, which we saw during the Awami League."
Syed Taher further said, "If the government succumbs to this pressure, then it will be understood that the government has lost its neutrality. If it shows loyalty to any party, fair elections cannot be expected. The people will then lose trust in the government."
Jamaat's Comilla region team member Abdus Sattar, Comilla South District Jamaat Amir Mohammad Shahjahan, Comilla Metropolitan Jamaat Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, Workers Welfare Federation Central Vice President Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan and former Chauddagram Upazila Jamaat Amir Sahab Uddin also spoke at the rally held under the chairmanship of Chauddagram Upazila Jamaat.
